Where to find me

Photo Diary | Lazy Saturday

This was a couple of weeks ago now. Thanks mainly to my hectic Uni and work schedule I didn't get around to posting these pictures.
On my day off there was nothing I wanted to do more than wander around and not do much of anything. Just spend some time with my boyfriend. He works full time with irregular days off so its always nice when we get time off together.
We spent the morning meandering round Brighton. With a stop off at Cafe Coho for a delicious toasted parma hama, parmesan and rocket sarnie. If you can grab yourself a table then count yourself lucky. When ever i've been its been very busy so get there early. But I do believe they have added more seats due to them being so in demand!
The breakfasts are definitely worth getting out of bed for but you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. I do not however recommend following them on twitter like I do. Their posts never fail to make me drool!
Continuing our quest for food we headed to Hotel Chocolat and the lovely Angel Food Bakery. My cupcake of choice was chocolate orange and his a devils food cake/ peanut butter concoction. I have been assured it was very nice, but mine was clearly the superior choice!
In desperate need to walk off some of the calories we had a little wander round the pavilion gardens and peruse of the brighton museum. It must have been pretty captivating as we where there until chucking out time.
All in all it was a very successful, very unproductive day.

Photo Diary | Be My Valentine

Everyone seemed to have gone little valentines crazed this week. Is it just me or does it get worse every year?  On Tuesday My University building was over run with hearts and cakes and oddly enough onions.
The onions were courtesy of the brighton vegetable co-op. Something about that sign really make me smile. Isn't there some deeply symbolic thing about giving someone an onion? Just me? Ok then!
In general I am a bit of a cynic when it comes to valentines day but I got a little caught up photographing anything with a heart emblazoned one it.
The third year fine art painting students held a bake sale and my goodness I wanted to buy it all. Chocolate and cakes are my weakness at the best of times and I had to walk past their stand at least 10 times that day. I settled for the little delight in the last picture. A little piece of Double chocolate fudge cake. I may have also had a brownie and a cupcake but we don't need to get into the specifics now do we!
My boyfriend and I had very low key evening with some lovely Waitrose food and some rubbish T.V. "You've Got Mail" and "Big Fat Gypsy Weddings" were on the box and i was happy to do nothing more than sit back and veg out.
Hope you all had a nice day on tuesday whether you got involved in the v-day hoopla or not!

Nails | Candy Striper

Ok so these have nothing to do with a candy striper but does it sound cute? Ha!
The other day I got creative with some Sellotape after watching the lovely Gemma do her segment over on Channel 4's 'Super Scrimpers'. Its so simple but creates such a striking effect. One that you just cant achieve free hand.
This did take me quite some time but I love the result. For the base I used Models Own 'Utopia' which  is my perfect go to pastel lilac. The stripes are China Glaze 'Some Like It Haute' which I purchased in New York. Its a 3D glitter that is super sparkly and very eye catching.
I cant even begin to tell you how many people commented on them, my friends know me for doing fun nails but everyone seemed to love this design.
And on a side note, for once I decided not to take off my jewellery for the pictures. Hope it isn't too distracting.
I cant wait to try out new combinations soon!

Photo Diary | New York Day 3

The only reason this isn't as long as the previous two posts on  new York is because my camera battery died. Someone somewhere telling me to stop taking so many photos perhaps? Or it could just be that I forgot to charge my battery!

  1. View from out hotel room window
  2. Smiths Bar and Restaurant - that ones for my boyfriend
  3. A quintessential NY building
  4. Some tasty looking pizza
  5. The biggest/busiest ever Starbucks EVER at Times Square
  6. Preparations for new years eve well under way at Times Square
  7. Parsons
  8. No a clue where this is, but it looks nice!
  9. The New Yorker Hotel
This was our last day  in the city and my god did it get cold. The weather turned and it became icy cold and windy. I didn't want to leave but the bitter cold did make it slightly easier to get on the train back to Albany.
Whilst waiting around for our train we had a really tasty meal in TGI's in Penn station. I only felt I should mention this is because I was extremely surprised. All the meals I've had a TGI's in the UK have always been distinctly average. I might give it another chance in future.
It was an brilliant few days and I feel really lucky to have gotten to see it again.

Life | Its Been While

It has been the busiest most full on couple of weeks.
I have started a new job (yay) and have had to complete three projects for uni. It feels like I have been living in that blooming place, either toiling away in the weave studio or hunched over an iMac photopshopping until my eyes go funny.
It's been quite the miserable existence but I'm glad that this week is over and that I survived!
In this time I have accumulated a serious backlog of photos to post but I am really looking forward to sorting them out.
I took this little polaroid the week I got back to brighton after Christmas using my Fujifilm Instax Wide 210 Camera. Its a beast of a thing, its so bulky and heavy. Which can make carrying it around rather troublesome. But I am in love with the photos it produces.
This is just a shot of the old burnt out west pier at sunset. I think its really quite beautiful. Every time I look at it I am reminded that I should really use the camera more.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
