Where to find me

Nails | Neon Ombre Dots

Now these are pretty 'out there' nails. even for me. When I had finished them I wasnt sure if they were just a little too much? But thats what I love about doing crazy nail art, it's only temporary. With a good top coat your going to have it for around 4/5 days then you get to take it off and start all over again.

I've been loving neon yellow so I wanted to try another neon shade. I didn't want to spend another £9 on an American Apparel Polish so I trundled off to Boots in search of another neon hue. Models Own is always my first stop and it didn't dissapoint.
You can't get much more neon than 'Hedonist' from their recent Hedkndi collaboration. It almost glows!

As if this wasnt enough I added glitter tips and clashing brightly coloured dots with smaller contrasting metalic dots on top of those. I'm exhausted just writing that out! It did take ages to do but I sadly find it quite relaxing to do when im watching TV or before I go to bed.

I'm not sure i'll be sporting these again soon but they where nice while they lasted.

Life | Free at Last

Pebble filled Corona on Brighton Beach, My final project of first year, His and hers shoes on Brighton beach.

Today is the day. I have finished my first year of university. I can't quite believe I've made it this far and without failing anything! It has passed so quickly that I'm not sure where the time has gone.
It feels so strange to think I have the next 4 months ahead of me, to do pretty whatever I feel like doing.
I will of course be moving into my new flat with my boyfriend and attempting to work on my summer project but other than that I don't have anything planned. I cannot wait.
I don't doubt that I will pick up some extra shifts at work but hopefully not too many. Other than that I intend to do lots of relaxing, spending lots of time outside at the beach and giving my youtube and blog some much needed love and attention.

Roll on my first summer in Brighton. I think its going to be a good one.

Sunday Supplement | 5

This week really has been filled with food, food and more food. My boyfriends parents and my sister were both down visiting this week so I have done nothing but eat amazing meals in lovely restaurants.
I've felt rather spoiled if I'm honest! Being a student I tend to cook/re heat whatever is easiest and cheapest so I have definitely appreciated it.
Tonight I am preparing for my final uni hand in of my first year. This only really involves trimming, washing and mounting my samples from the last project as my sketchbook is already done.
After tomorrow morning it will all be over. I cant believe my first year is almost completed. It has literally flow by. All that is left is helping the final year weave students set up for the degree show and their final hand in on friday.
This week I am also modelling two of the final year's collections for their photoshoots. Im more than a little nervous about it, I really hope I do an ok job. I don't want to be responsible for messing anything up for them. A model I am not but I am going to give it my best shot! Underneath the fear I am quite excited. But only a little!
Its going to be quite the eventful week, I may even be going out on thursday to celebrate the end of term. And if you know me this is quite the rarity!
I really am the most boring student in the world.

Outfit | What I Wore

Excuse the Iphone/Instagram photos I've been using of late. I cant stand using poor quality pictures but needs must!
I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and this of course is what I wore. I thought it deserved a mention as I don't often wear things like this!
The dress is from Zara and I really fell in love with it as soon as I layed eyes on it. The wedding was in April but I bought this dress in November. Says it all really! It was torture having it in my wardrobe with  no reason to wear it.
The shoes where a steal at £12 from primark, the bag is from a charity shop and the belt is vintage.
If you want to see the dress in motion I have a quick video featuring over on my youtube channel, here.

The wedding was so beautiful. I hope I get to go to another one soon!

New Additions | Neon Flecks

Today I ventured into Space NK for the first time. I dragged along my sister for moral support, in search of the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder foundation. I don't know if I'm the only one but makeup counters and the girls that work on them really scare me. I feel like I have a flashing light above my head that screams I don't have a clue about makeup. And for some reason I get worried they are going to ask me all kinds of questions that I won't be able to answer. Of course none of this actually happened! The girl that helped me was really lovely and helped me find my shade. I came away with 'Soft Porcelain' which is the palest available. I'm a little surprised at this but only because in my mind I think I am bronzed and glowing, in reality I am almost transparent!

After blowing the budget on a £31 foundation (very unlike me) I headed to Primark for some cheaper thrills. I spotted this cream jumper which has little neon flecks all over it. I have the T-shirt version so owning the jumper as well maybe wasn't necessary but my love affair with neon is showing no signs of waining. A pack of 30 neon hairbands also sneaked its way into the basket. I plan to wear the yellow ones from the set as bracelets and keep the others tucked away until summer rolls around. If it ever does!

New Additions | Cheap and Cheerful

I am just on a roll with this blogging malarky! Today I went shopping with my sister and picked up a few random things around town.
We visited all the usual places, Topshop, Zara, Urban Outfitters and H&M. But honestly I could not be more bored by what is in the shops at the moment. Not that I particularly need anything but literally nothing grabbed me. Not one thing. That is until visited the Primark mens section. I pretty much bypass the women's floor in Primark these days, its just not my thing. Plain simple t-shirts however very much are. This grey ombre number was £7 and I plan to do the usual, cut off the sleeves and the pocket. I bought it in a size large as I do like tops to be oversized.
Superdrug also had a few goodies. I stumbled upon the most hyped up product of the moment in the shape of the Bourjois 'Magic' nail polish remover. Don't hate me but I may have nabbed the last two on the shelf.
I spotted a set of three makeup bags, two in leopard and one in black for £6. I am strangely addicted to keeping things a little too organised in lots of pouches and as these were rather inexpensive I couldn't really help myself. The MUA eyeshadow in shade 19 also managed to make it into my basket as I needed a back up eyebrow powder to keep at my boyfriends.
Last but not least were two black hair scrunchies from Claire's Accessories. My sister thought I was slightly mental for buying them but I'm channeling my inner 90's kid at bit at the moment. If they had been velvet they would have been ideal but i'll settle for these for now!
I'm trying to broaden my blogging horizons a little so hopefully will do more posts like this in future.

Nails | Neon Luxe

In an effort to make my posts more instant and of the moment I have decided to use instagram photos for this nail post. I usually take photos using my Nikon dslr but as I always do my nails at night before bed I find the lighting to be too poor to take proper pictures. This may seem ridiculous as the camera quality on the Iphone 4 is rubbish but I never forget to instagram my new nails but I often forget to photograph them before they get all chipped and ruined. When I'm at uni they can be destroyed in little under a day.
I used the retina burning American Apparel 'Neon Yellow' polish (3 thick coats) with China Glaze 'Luxe and Lush' (2 coats) over the top. This was from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection. It is by far my favourite of the 12 and I can definitely see myself repurchasing it in future as I'm almost a third of the way through it after only a few weeks.
I am also seriously obsessed with neon yellow. Its not girly like a neon pink can be and I feel it compliments my skin tone, to a certain degree anyway! It is still a neon shade after all.
I don't know if I will ever be brave enough to don neon clothing but for me nails and bracelets are a step in the right direction!

Photo Diary | Colour Inspirations | IKEA

Just a few snaps of things that caught my eye when I went to Ikea last week. I study textiles and have always loved looking at texture, colour and pattern. This is obviously not really reflected in the way I dress but I am trying to branch out a little. Especially with the work I am doing at uni. I very much want to push myself to try and incorporate more interesting colours and textures.

Sunday Supplement | 4

So I have decided to do the "Sunday Supplement"  posts every two weeks, basically because I really don't think there is enough going on in my humdrum life to warrant an update every week!
Really all I have been doing is weaving, sleeping, doing my nails and eating.
My boyfriend and I got to go and have a second viewing of our (soon to be) flat. It then lead to us spending most of friday wandering round the Ikea in croydon picking out our dream furniture that we will never actually own and of course eating meatballs.
At uni I am really enjoying the trimmings project that I am working on. With the work i have already put in I am quite far ahead with it so will hopefully get to weave some more 'out there' creative samples in the next couple of weeks. Im trying my hardest to use lots of colour and break away from the boring neutrals I've been sticking with up until now.
Havent got much planned other than the joy of joys that is working on bank holiday monday. I can guess it will be ridiculously busy and with children everywhere. You just have to love working in retail.
Also I'm trying to get into the habit of posting a little more regularly. Hopefully with more fashion/shopping related content as well!

Photo Diary | Brighton Farm Market

Today I popped my head into the Brighton farm market on north road. I have walked past it so often but have never ventured inside. Its not the full market thats open on weekdays, I believe the main even is on Saturdays. But it being friday there were still a few smaller stalls set up selling local and very tempting looking produce. I wanted to snap pictures of everything but as a neared a rather interesting looking stand covered with cakes I was quickly informed there were no pictures allowed. I was rather put out but at least I came away with a few! Next time I have a day off on a saturday I will definitely pop back and pick up a few things.
Oh and I chucked in a shot of Dirty Harry for good measure. Its great for mens vintage clothing and not as expensive as the likes of 'To Be Worn Again' so of course me loving my menswear I love it going and having a root around in there.

Life | Doom and Gloom

Its not all doom and gloom really, just the weather recently has been utterly awful. Its lead to me not doing an awful lot other than pulling myself out of bed to go into uni or  to work. My blog has been a little neglected to say the least. I don't know what it is but I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to actually blog about. Answers on a postcard please!
But really I am just stuck with how to go about things. I want this to be a fashion/lifestyle blog covering  clothes, purchases, outfits, nails and generally what I get up to. Its mainly the fashion side of things that is stumping me. I have all these creative ideas but no way of executing them.
At the moment I live in student accommodation and I really have nowhere I can take pictures that I am happy with. But all is about to change! In around two months I will be moving to a bigger, lighter and brighter place that I will be sharing with my boyfriend. That means an extra pair of hands to (hopefully) help me out here and there not that he knows this yet! And just more space in general.
As things are winding down at uni as its nearly the end of term I have more and more free time on my hands. So I am really looking forward to showing the blog a bit of love and attention.
I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone for reading commenting and following little old me. I really cannot get across how much it means.
Also if there is anything you want to see more of or anything new you think I should feature then please feel free to leave a comment.
