Photo Diary | Textile Graduate Exhibition 2012

In June I was lucky enough to attend the private view of the University of Brighton Textile Graduate Exhibition. It was held in the beautiful Crypt Gallery at St Pancras Church. The exhibit was as the name suggests presenting the work and collections of the class of 2012 Graduates of Textiles from the University of Brighton in the areas of Print, Knit and Weave.
All of the graduates work was presented really brilliantly, in such a beautiful space. I can't envisage it looking better in any other place. The quality of the work was amazing and being able to get up close and properly look and maybe have the odd touch (don't tell anyone) made it all the better.
This is why this post is so photo heavy. I had to cut out about half of the images I wanted to use and still it's massive.
Everything really did look great and I can only hope that when my graduate exhibition rolls around it will look half as good as theirs.
I'd like to think I feel confident but the inside I'm terrified!

Modelling | Charlotte Wakefield's Weaves

Here are the photos from when I was model for a day! I was modelling my friend Charlotte Wakefield's graduate collection of woven textile pieces. It was made up of two jackets, two pairs of trousers and about a million scarves! Her collection was based around the theme of architecture. Hence her fabrics having very linear and geometric structures and patterns. They are absolutely beautiful and intricate. Up close you can really appreciate the subtle difference in texture and weight.

I tried my best not to laugh the entire time we were shooting the pictures but I'm sure there were more than a few outtakes! I always feel a bit of a moron doing modelling things but I'm getting a bit more comfortable in front of the camera the more I do it.

Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show 2013

All photos from the ECFS facebook page. Photography by Edmund Fraser

I thought I would share some photos from the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show earlier this year. My sister is part of the team which organises it so I wanted to share the love and show off her and all the other volunteers incredible hard work.

The have their own blog which you can find here, you can also follow them on Twitter at
@EdiFashionShow and like them on Facebook for updates and news on the event.

Being that I am now living in Brighton I wasn't able to attend this year as I had to be in uni the day before and after but I really hope to make it next year. The amount of work that goes into it astounding and they deserve some major recognition for it!

Go on you know you want to check it out...

Photo Diary | Edinburgh

Being away really has made me appreciate how lucky I am to call Edinburgh my home. I spent a day being a right tourist, wandering around with one of my best friends not doing much of anything other than (window) shopping and eating.
We ended the evening with a bit of a dinner party at my sisters flat. I helped her whip up balmoral chicken (chicken breast stuffed with haggis) and mash and veg for eight people. Quite the task when you are as inept as me in the kitchen.

I really do miss being in Edinburgh, but its true you don't appreciate what you have until its gone. Or in this case you move 500 miles away!
