Outfit | Christmas Day

Dress: Marc Jacobs
Long Sleeve Top: Cheap Monday
Boots: Dr Marten
Name Necklace: Argos
Watch: Calvin Klein
Glasses: Ray-Ban

Merry Christmas to everyone!
Its kind of tradition in my family to wear something a little bit nice on christmas day.
So this year it felt very fitting to wear this lovely dress I got from work. Its a pinafore style with thick straps but being that its currently -14 degrees outside I had to pair it with a long sleeve top underneath. And of course my big boots. Mainly because I didn't bring any other footwear with me to my aunties but they are the warmest things I own.

A big thanks also goes to my cousin Ben who I roped into helping me take a few pictures. As you can see the dogs wanted to get involved as well!

Hope everyone is having a lovely day.  Mine will be spent with lots of family, dogs and mountains of food!
Couldn't ask for more.

P.s It was here two years ago I posted one of my first outfits on the blog. So much has happened since then but It feels very fitting to be back here for Christmas again this year!

Photo Diary | Central Park

As you may be able to tell I am trying to work through all the pictures I took when my boyfriend was visiting. He left, I went back to work and things kind of mounted up.
We went to central park a couple of times during his visit. Its so nice and calm compared to the hectic rush of people that surround you on the streets of NY.

Sometimes its nice to just stop for a few minutes and admire the view.

Photo Diary | NY Made

American sporting events are definitely cater far more for those less interested in the actual sport. They make the whole event much more epic and far more entertaining with all the music, half time shows and all the goings on on the big screen.

I'm pretty sure I helped ruin the experience for my boyfriend by constantly asking what was going on and who everyone was.
I feel I have absorbed a lot of info on football and in particular the Newcastle team by living with him for the past year and a bit but I am utterly clueless about basketball, the rules, the players and all the random timeouts leave me slightly baffled.
I went in knowing that you score in the basket and thats about it.

Despite my clear lack of knowledge I had such a good time. We got tickets super last minute (literally the day before) and opted for the cheapest we could find but honestly it didn't effect our experience at all. Its one of those things I never would have done if my boyfriend hadn't really wanted to but I would definitely go again.
I'm thinking of seeing what the Brooklyn Nets have to offer next time! The Knicks have set the bar pretty high.

Photo Diary | Postcards

On short visit to Staten Island I spent some time at the 9/11 memorial on the north shore waterfront.

The memorial commemorates the 274 Staten Island residents whos lives were lost in the September 11th attacks.

It is a beautiful memorial and I am glad to have seen it in person.

Photo Diary | All of the Lights

You can't get much prettier or more christmasy than Rockefeller Centre at the moment. I decided to go have a look around the other day after work, it was utterly freezing but so worth it.
Not being at home or near my family I do feel like I am not doing things I would be normal doing in the run up to christmas, and with working as well I have kind of missed out on that Christmassy feeling.

No longer!  I had gone to go and look at the big tree at Rockefeller Centre but got side tacked along the way by all of the other other mazing lights and decorations that seem to be all around.
Its hard not to feel a little festive. Especially at night when it looks even more special.

Every so often it hits me that I am actually here in New York. It sounds silly because obviously I never forget where I am but the amazingness of this experience just comes over me all over again!

New Additions | Isabel Marant pour H&M

I didn't need to buy it. Nobody forced me to buy it. But I did.

I think its the allure of knowing the H&M collaborations always sell out and just generally getting caught up in the hype of the whole collection launch.
I didn't brave the shop, I didn't queue for hours I simply calmly ordered my t-shirt online.
I chose this one from the mens section. They had the exact same print on a version for women I just prefer the loose and much more comfortable fit of mens tops.

I actually orderd this the day after the collection's initial lauch and there was still quite a lot of it left on the US sight. I've noticed that with this and previous designer collaborations that the menswear doesn't seem to sell out at such a rapid rate as the women's. Always good for me, in general I much prefer the simple styles and a more oversized shapes of mens clothing.

It was an unnecessary purchase but I still love it.
So that is all that matters!

Outfit | Uniform

Coat: Whistles
Top: Cheap Monday
Riding Pants: American Apparel
Shoes: Vans
Bag: ordning&reda (from a vintage shop)
Glasses: Ray-ban
Ridiculous Expression: No Idea

Is it just me or are my outfit posts are going seriously downhill?!
I have never been organised enough to plan ahead when it come to posts so I have always only blogged outfits I actually wear.
When at home in the UK I snap them before I leave the house in my quiet and calm living room. Here I have no space to take pictures myself so I have to rely on the generosity of friends/forcing them to take a few pictures of me when we are out and about.

At the moment my staple outfits are a big coat, some form of skinny trousers/jeans/leggings and the comfiest shoes I can find. Pretty boring right?

I've been trying to force myself out of this rut but with some difficulty. I wore a dress to work this week (shocking I know) and have been trying to change it up a bit. A pencil skirt also may or may not have found its way into my wardrobe.
I will try and get some photographic evidence to share with you. I promise I am not making it up!

And to liven things up I decided to include a couple of outtakes. 95% of the time I am not composed or remotely 'cool' so I thought I would share that as well! The extreme wind didn't really help my crazed expression in that last picture.
You have to be able to laugh!
