Nails | Dot Crazy

I may or may not have gone a little mad with the dotting tool on these! I was reading the amazing Beauty Deparment blog and their latest nail post inspired me to create this spotty design.
The top picture is the only one I managed to snap before heading off to work. If anyone you work in shops or have to use touch screen tills regularly you will know what they do to nail polish. Even being super carful I still ended up with some wear on the tips but luckily no chips!

For the Base I used Models Own 'Peacock Green'. It is a very dark green in the bottle but it takes a good few coats to get it this colour. I would reccomend layering it over a darker more pigmented polish in black or dark blue to get a true representation of the shade.
For the outer ring of spots I opted for Sally Hansen 'Green Tea' and for the inner O.P.I's 'Alpine Snow'. This was rather detailed in intself but for me it just wasnt quite enough. So I went over the outer ring with the Peacock Green with smaller dots and then did the same on top of the white with the Sally Hansen Green Tea polish.
I think they ended up looking like miniture mosaics, that or from farther away like really strange little eyes.

They are very simple to create all you need is a steady hand, a dotting tool and some patience.

Wishlist | Payday Beauty Bits

For me the first  pay day of 2013 rolls around on monday, and in anticipation of finally having bit of extra cash I have been compiling a mental list of a few new bits and bobs. For once its not clothes I am obsessing over. I find myself getting more and more excited about makeup these days.

I for one did not see this coming. Up until about 2 years ago I wasn't remotely interested in beauty products. I owned a couple of mascaras, a bronzer, one concealer and one eyeliner and only replaced them when they were used up. Then I stumbled onto the world of Youtube beauty videos and I have been in free fall ever since.

A lot of these products have come on recommendation from blogs or beauty vloggers. The only one which I already own is the Alpha H Liquid Gold. Mine ran out this week and I have been counting down to pay day purely so I can repurchase it. They don't come cheap but I really think it is worth it. I also have been reading lots of reviews of the  Liquid Gold Intensive Night  Repair Serum. I have never tried it but seeing as I love the regular Liquid Gold so much this one really stood out to me.

The real techniques brushes are really no surprise as everybody and their dog has a set. I am very late to this party, I do not own even one of these brushes! I feel this needs to change.

Through the joys of the internet I have also had my eye on some beauty bits from America. Firstly the O.P.I Skyfall collection has been on my watch list on eBay ever since its release. Not really only available in the US but I will only buy nail brands such as O.P.I and China Glaze (my favourite) from american sellers as the sell it at such a vast discount. Think £2-5 a bottle instead of the usual £11 in the UK. The shade shown above is 'The World is Not Enough'.

To finish things off are two products I definitely do not need more of. The first being an eyeshadow palette, which I love to look at but in practice barely use. And a highlighter, which I use daily but have far too many of already. The Wet n Wild palette (in 'Comfort Zone') is available on BeautyJoint which is an american site thats ships to the UK and The Balm Mary-Lou-Manizer Highlighter is on Amazon.

I know I wont be able to purchase all of these and common sense will prevail in the end but it doesn't stop me adding them all to my online basket.
Please someone stop me clicking 'buy'.

Outfit | Bundled Up

Coat: Whistles
Jumper: Asos
Riding Pants: American Apparel
Boots: Dr Marten
Bag: Romwe

What on earth do you do with your face when having outfit photos taken?! I never know whether to smile or not I just end up with this daft expression on my face.

Thankfully it is not about my face anyway it is about the clothes. For me lately it has been purely about getting on as many layers as possible in order to brave the cold.
I have had this coat from Whistles for over four years now and its still going strong. I bring it out every winter when it gets this cold. It was expensive but having had it so long I think really worth the investment. Not to mention I got it at a 50% discount as my lovely friend worked for Whistles at the time.

My other staple for this cold and often wet weather are my Dr Marten chelsea boots. Throw anything you like at these babies and they will keep your feet dry and toasty warm. I wish I had had them when I lived in Scotland, they would have come in rather useful! These were also purchased by my friend who kindly lent me her friends and family discount when she worked at Schuh.
Having friends who work in retail definitely have their perks.

I now just need to make friends with someone who works at American Apparel and all my dreams will come true!

Nails | Ombre Glitter Leopard

These nails always look way more impressive than they really are. I get asked a lot when I wear them if they are foils or stickers but obviously I just like painting my nails! They are really so simple to do if you have a spare bit of time.

I started with the white base, I used O.P.I "Alpine Snow'. This white is actually pretty good compared with some others I have tried and only takes two coats to get an opaque colour. I then used the China Glaze 'Optical Illusion' Glitter to create an ombre effect. Once all of that is dry take the colour you want for the spots I used China Glaze 'Re-fresh Mint' to tab a few spots on each nail.
Once this was dry I used a black nail art pen, mine is form Models Own and draw two messy  'C' shapes around each spot and some just randomly.

It really is not difficult it does just take quite some time. I pretty much always paint my nails when I am bored of an evening watching TV so you don't really notice how much time it takes to do. This is just a little insight into my incredibly glamourous and interesting life! Haha!

Modelling | Printed Textiles Scarf Shoot

So here is more shots of me playing pretend at being a model. Don't I look terrified?!
I'm not sure if these ended up being used but the plan was to have the images projected on the wall at the degree show to showcase the graduates works and samples as scarves. I was to sit in the same spot in the same position with the same facial expression so the pictures changed it would only be the scarves that differed in each shot.  As ever I found it really hard to cut is down but this is only a small selection of the beautiful pieces I was modelling.

The works pictured are all by printed textiles graduates and as shown are by;

1. Jade Telles

3. Emily Morris

5. Erin Phillips
6. Laura Dean

Wishlist | Back in Black

This really is only about the shoes. Lately I have been obsessing about these Dr Marten sandals. You know when you get something in your head and you just can't shake it?
Well the Clarissa Sandals are firmly implanted in my subconscious.
This all came about because I was lucky enough to receive a pair of Dr Marten shoes for christmas. Sadly they way they fit was just all wrong. So I have been on the hunt for a differnt style to exchange them for.
And as you can see they will fit in perfectly with my daily uniform of plain basic black.
I think these may just be the ones.

They have been dividing opion amongst my friends, what do you make of them?
