Whishlist | Skincare

I will be the first to admit I am not a skincare person. I never try anything new and in all honestly I actively avoid it.
The main reason for this being that my skin is very sensitive. And I mean VERY sensitive. I have used the same Nivea Creme moisturiser and Simple makeup wipes since I was around 11 and anything I have ever tried in its place had lead to spots, angry bumps, rashes, the lot. You name it my skin hates it.
Even the Simple light moisturiser covered me in spots.
I have even had problems with my skin from the hard water here in the south of England. Crazy as it sounds!
When I go back home to Scotland my skin improves no end. When in Brighton I really try not to use any water on my face as it upsets my skin. It sounds ridiculous but I think its just because it had gotten so used to the exceptionally pure and soft water back home.

The skincare I use, is what I use because It doesn't aggravate my skin. It doesn't really improve it in any way but it doesn't anger it either. I have always left my skin pretty much alone and it luckily on the whole seems to behave.

So I dont know if it is a foolish or wise decision to want to try the Emma Hardy Cleansing Balm. I have been reading reviews non stop and pretty much all of them are glowing. I don't know if its just the hype getting to me but I really want to try it. I wish they did sample sizes as I don't want to splurge the £34 only to be disappointed when it breaks me out. But I have that tiny glimmer of hope that my skin might not hate it. Foolish? Probably!

I am a devout Bioderma user. I use it daily to remove my eye makeup. But having run out today and not having been paid yet a new bottle is not really an option. Instead I want to try the L'Oreal Micellar Solution. It costs less than £5 and can be picked up on the high street. Far easier and cheaper than getting your hand on Bioderma.

Last year I ordered a tiny sample size of the Alpha H Liquid Gold exfoliator. My skin was getting really quite bad as I wasn't using my normal facial exfoliator. I was getting a rash from the water I had to stop using it. In its place I searched for a an exfoliator that I could use alone without washing it off.
When I came across Liquid Gold I ordered a tiny little bottle without much thought. I am so glad I did as I love it.
My skin has definitely looking more like it used to from using it. It very much helped get rid of some of the scarring I had from all of the spots and break outs.
I am currently out of this too and at £45 its not cheap but I will definitely be repurchasing it first thing on pay day.

This post turned into a bit of an essay on my skin rather than a wish list but sometimes I just go off on a bit of a tangent when I start writing!

If you have triend any of these or have any recommendations I would love to hear your thoughts.

Outfit | Can't Keep Me Away

T-shirt: Urban Outfitters
Jeans: Topshop Jamie
Shoes - Aldo (post) (Dupes Post)
Glasses: Ray-Ban

Necklace: Argos
Earrings: Vivienne Westwood
Rings: Accessorizes and Vintage
Watch: Calvin Klein

I succumbed to the UO sale once again. I blame being surrounded by it all day. I didn't venture to far out of my comfort zone with this baggy grey sack of a tshirt. Its comfy and requires zero effort.

Ideally I would want to wear this with some cycling shorts and bare legs but the sun just will not cooperate. So until then its my old faithful Topshop jamie jeans.
You wouldn't think its nearly July!

Wishlist | Asos Monochrome

Trainers, Crop Top, Dress, Crop Top, Trainers

I dont think I need to explain my love for black and white to you lovely people. I will always gravitate towards things of a monochrome tone.

After a quick perusal on Asos I spied a fair few bits I would like to purchase come pay day.
The two striped crop tops in particular. They are by a brand called 'Glamarous' which isn't one I would usually look at but thats the beauty of Asos. You can browse so many brands all at once that you cna usually find a bargain or some hidden gems like these.

Someone please take away my debit card! I can see some serious spending on the horizon.

Photo Diary | Being a Tourist

Our second day in London last weekend was spent doing touristy activities.
We started our adventure at the London Eye. I have been on it once before but that was when I visited London for mine and my sisters 13th birthday, so a fair few years ago now. And it was foggy then. So it really was great to do it again!

After some wandering around south bank we descended upon Giraffe. Lately I am obsessed with sweet potato fries so I just knew that whatever I ordered I have to get them. I could eat them by the bucket load. But its probably best I don't! And obviously I can't go to any restaurant and not order a dessert.

In desperate need to walk off the meal we then headed over to Green Park to see the Bomber Command memorial. My boyfriend's Grandfather was part of the RAF Bomber Command and his father and brother are both pilots so it was very important that we take the time to go and visit it.

It was a lovely but very tiring day. I ended it by sleeping the whole journey back home to Brighton. I can never stay awake on any kind of public transport at the best of times!

Outfit | Dungarees

Dungarees: Urban Outfitters
T-shirt: Primark
Shoes - Aldo (post) (Dupes Post)
Glasses: Ray-Ban

Necklace: Argos
Earrings: Vivienne Westwood
Rings: Accessorizes and Vintage
Watch: Calvin Klein
Nails: Post

The british weather is driving me mad! Its hot one minute then cold and rainy the next. And today it was a mixture of all three. I know I am always banging on about the weather in outfit posts but thats the main factor I consider in the morning when getting dressed. Comfort always come first! I really cant stand being too hot or cold so I am always first to check the weather when I get up. After instagram, twitter and emails of course.

This is turning into a whole other post, back to the clothes. I got these dungarees from the Urban Outfitters sale. We didn't have them at work so I placed a little order online. It came ridiculously fast as well. I don't know what they are doing to get the orders out so quickly but I am certainly not complaining. Everyone at work who ordered from the sale on Wednesday also had theirs come in just 24 hours. Hope they keep it up!

Modelling | Fashion and Textiles Graduate Show 2013

Photos By Jim Holden

A few weeks ago now I played at being a model again. This time for the private graduate fashion show held to showcase the collections created by the 2013 graduating Fashion and Textile students. It encompassed both mens and womens collections from Fashion and all three Textiles Specialisms.

1 Polly Mann  - Fashion
2 Sarah Jane Davies - Woven Textiles
3 Nneka Uzoigwe - Fashion
4 Emma Burniston - Fashion

These are obviously just a very small selection of what will be on show but if you are going to be in London between the 21st and 25th of June you can go and see it for yourself. It is being held at Candid Arts, 3 Torren Street, London. More detailed information can be found here.

If you are able to go I cant recommend it enough. I have a post on last years textile show here if you want to check that out.

Nails | Blue Grape

Hands up I am in love with the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes. I love the formula and the finish. They dry super shiny are the colours I have are completely opaque in only two coats.

I painted my nails with 'Blue Grape'* last night. Much as I love the shade one colour nails are just far too plain for me! My usual instinct is to add a sheer glitter or shimmer topcoat but I wnated to keep the amazing colour as it is. So I reached for the dotting tool instead.

I really should branch out and try some other techniques but I find that dotting tools are usualy the quickets way to add a design that is simple and usualy quite neat. Depending on the steadyness of your hand of course!

So I began with OPI 'Alpine Snow' then followed it with Barry M's 'Greenberry' and then 'Blueberry' Both of which I have used in other designs. All of which can be found here, here and here.

A quick slick of Seche Vite to seal it all in an you are done!

Photo Diary | Trooping The Colour

I spent this weekend in London. On Saturday I found myself in the midst of the annual 'Trooping the Colour' parade that marks the Queens birthday. I had no idea this practice even existed, I'm not sure how but its just one of those things that seems to have gone unnoticed by me until now.

Unnoticed until we had arranged to meet meet up with my boyfriends parents during it. I'm not much of a royalist but seeing an event such as this, which is so entrenched in history and tradition really was rather nice.
It made me quite proud seeing all the police in their formal uniforms and all the guards and whatnot. My Grandad was an Inspector in the Met police and growing up we had a picture of him in his uniform hanging up in the hallway. So seeing all of the officers in theirs reminded me of him.
I also managed to snap a very fuzzy zoomed in shot of the royal family out on the balcony. I believe thats Kate in pale pink?

After all the royal celebrations we all headed over to Covent Garden for a late lunch/early dinner. I must say it was rather delicious. As we were eating from the set menu it wasn't crazy expensive either. Only £22 each. I was so utterly stuffed by the end all I wanted to do was curl up in the corner and have a nap.
Instead we ambled down Oxford Street to Marble Arch to have look at the new Urban Outfitters and the boyfriend had his eye on some bits from Uniqlo. Shockingly I did't buy a single thing! Could I possibly developing more than an ounce of self control?
I give it a week. Tops.
