Wishlist | Jeffrey Campbell Norwalk

Norwalk Shoe in Black Python: Karmaloop

I will be the first to admit I am not a Jeffrey Campbell girl. I never really got the hype, mainly because I don't wear heels or like buying expensive shoes. Pretty self explanatory right?!

I saw a picture on Bunny's (grav3yardgirl on youtube) instagram and I was intruiged. Some quick googling and there they where on Karmaloop.
Now at $230 (roughly £150) I can say with some certainty that wouldn't ever actually purchase these unless they were pretty heavily discounted. I most expensive pair I have ever spent on shoes was £72 for my Aldo sandals. And I found that more than a little difficult!

I think one of the reasons I like them is as they remind me little a bit of the Cheap Monday 'Stomp' sandals (which you can see here) that I had previously been lusting after. The pointed toe also feels really current.
I will be keeping an eye out for them going on sale but I think these will just be one of those wish list items I will only ever admire form afar!

Outfit | Casual Basics

Vest: Urban Outfitters
Bra: H&M
Shoes - Aldo (post) (Dupes Post)
Glasses: Ray-Ban
Name Necklace: Argos
Watch Calvin Klein

When its warm my sense of style or dressing pretty much goes out the window. I have probably said it before but when its hot I would rather be comfortable than try and make major efforts to look good.  My hair also drives me mad so its usually a high pony or a bun when the sun comes out.

I spend most of the time when its nice weather being hot, bothered sticky (so attractive) so baggy basics and no fuss hair keep me sane.

These shorts are my new love. I had been on the hunt for a while for some baggy black shorts and have been wearing them constantly since I purchased them a couple of weeks ago.

I wouldn't usually mention where my bras are from because its usually down right dull but I am getting quite obsessed with bras like this.
I wanted some non wired basic triangle shaped bras. My first thought was American Apparel but I really begrudge paying over £15 for some tiny pieces of cotton and elastic.
H&M came to my rescue, I got this neon yellow number and one in black for under £8 for both. I will definitely be going to pick up a few more and will be keeping my eye out for more colours. If you happen to know of anywhere that does good value bras like this please let me know!

Photo Diary | Asos Autumn Winter Preview

On Wednesday I was invited to preview the Asos autumn winter collections. As you may know I am a big fan of Asos so I was really excited to be able to not only preview the new collections before they hit the website but also to be able to view them in person and up close.
The pieces are split into four collections with the addition of coats and outerwear.
I spent quite a lot of time looking through the rails, touching everything and taking so so many pictures. I got more than a little snap happy!

I study textiles at university and I hadn't really realised before how much this influences the way I look at clothes. I am very much drawn to interesting textures and fabrics. And there where so many on show!
I always want to know how the fabric has been created, or how an embellishment or pattern had been applied. All of the collections are so diverse with so such a variety of textile techniques and all such great quality as well.
I can be more than a bit of a geek when it comes to textiles and fashion so I really wanted to find out as much as I could and the girls from Asos where so lovely talking me through the collections and answering all of my many questions.

There are so many pieces that I will be stalking the site for. In particular the grey jumper with a holographic foil pattern. I haver been told it will drop online in september and I will be ordering it straight away!

Going to the preview has only increased my love for Asos. I think they are raising the standards higher and higher every season. The collections really blew me away and I can't wait to see them up online in the coming months.

I have a separate post up covering the accessories collections. You can find that here.
I just couldn't narrow down so may amazing pieces into only one post!

New Additions | Bargain Crystal Iphone Cases

I love a tacky phone case. The more crystals and sparkly stuff the better. This may seem quite at odds with the more simple style of clothing I tend to opt for but I have an unexplainable weakness for sparkle! I definitely have some serious magpie tendencies.
I get asked quite a lot where I got my phone case from and the answer is always eBay.

It pains me to spend a lot of money on a case when there are always cheap options available out there.
I recently ordered a new case that cost the grand total of £1.99. And thats including shipping! I have wanted an ombre crystal style case for a while but they are nearly always pink or blue. I much prefer plain crystal or black so this ombre case was perfect!

I am currently using the plain clear crystal case with the silver edging which cost £4.99, again that is including postage.
I can't recommend both of these cases enough. The quality is great, they are cheap and both came with a cleaning cloth and screen protecter sticker.

I think they are both quite a bargain and wanted to share them with you!

Outfit | Street Style

Photos by GarconJon.com

Shorts: Vintage from American Apparel
Shoes: Topshop
Watch: Calvin Klein
Name Necklace: Argos
Disc Pendant: Bill Skinner

Nails: Sally Hansen 'Lavender Cloud'

When I was in Covent Garden last week I had my outfit snapped by a lovely gentleman and fellow Scot named Jonathon. He was taking pictures of people who where wearing different looks incorporating denim. And well you know me, if I'm not wearing denim jeans then you will probably find me in denim shorts!

I also got to pick out a piece of Bill Skinner jewellery to pair with my outfit. If my picture gets lots of likes on facebook then I could be with a chance of winning a piece from them.
If you fancy 'liking' my picture on facebook then that would be lovely!

Life | Back to Brighton

I just wanted to let you all know that I have not dropped off the face of the earth! I was on holiday in glorious Menorca for a week but arrived back in Brighton today.

I had such a lovely time doing not much of anything. I read several books and lounged around by the pool. Oh and I ate rather a lot!

I will get back to normal posting very soon. Providing my laptop doesn't just spontaneously combust in this heat!

I never thought the heatwave would hit but I am so happy it has!

A Closer Look | Products for My Naturally Curly Hair

Shampoo and Conditioner

When it comes to shampoo's and conditioners I am not overly loyal. I much always use a silver shampoo and dandruff a shampoo for my not so glamorous sometimes dry and flaky scalp. I tend to buy something differnt each time I run out as to be honest I've never found anything that works much better than the rest.
The same can be said with conditioners. I tend to just pick up whatever. With the slight exception of the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment. But even then I only buy this when its on offer!
Its pretty regularly involved in some sort of promotion but if not I won't rush out to buy it full price. I wouldn't say it makes or has made my hair grow any quicker but it does improve the feel of my hair. When I use it it feels softer and less frizzy.

I have been using this combination of products for years. I'm talking since I was 11 when I started using products in my hair!
I have always used some sort of conditioning or detangling spray. When Lo'real discontinued my favourite one I just moved over the the next most similar thing that they made.
I have always always used this Shockwaves mouse. It costs less than £3 and does what it says it will! It doesn't leave my hair crunchy and helps keeps my curls under some sort of control.

Another item I am now very loyal too is the tangle teezer. For me its the easiest way to deal with the utter ordeal that is brushing my hair. I use the tangle teezer to (very slowly) brush out my hair before I wash it. It removes all the knots, tangles and general matted texture that my hair as acquired by the 3-5th day post wash.
Since discovering my love for the tangle teezer I also purchased the Tangle Teezer Aqua Spalsh which is specifically designed to be used with wet hair. If I suddenly lost it/broke it/didn't have it anymore for any reason I wouldn't be heartbroken but it is another useful tool to have in the battle against my unruly curls.
I also have an old paddle brush with I use more after I have brushed out all the tangles when its wet or when straightening my hair. Again only after I have used the tangle teezer.

Heat Styling Tools

I only bought this hair dryer as it came with a diffuser attachment. My old one got recalled and this was the only one my boots had that that I could exhange it for. It's good and does the job. I don't know what more can you really say about a hair dryer?!
I am a little more picky with my other heat styling tools. I have recently started curling my hair when it is already in its naturally curly state with the Babyliss Curling Wand. I use it just to go over my curls and make any straggly ones look like they have a bit more life in them. It heats up to 200 degrees and the curls don't tend to drop out.

To straighten my hair I use my trusty old GHD's. These are my second pair. My first ones lasted a good 5 or so years of intensive use before I dropped them from a considerable height and cracked the plastic casing surrounding the plates.

Lastly I have a fairly new addition to mention. I have only had the Remington Pearl Pro Curl Curling Wand for about 2 months but I don't know how I managed without it before. I only use this on already straightened hair as the barrel is far to large to mach up with my natural curl pattern.
When I do wear my hair in any kind of straight style I like to add loose waves. Previously I was using my Babyliss conical wand but it just wasn't achieving the look I was after. The Remington Pro Curl has a much larger barrel so it creates soft loose waves really easily.

That covers everything I use on my head! I obviously favour cheap haircare and when something works I tend to stick with it.
If you have any recommendations please do let me know.
I also have a video on all of these so if you want to see me chatter away about them check it out below!

Outfit | Graduation

Dress: Carin Wester
Shoes: Next
Bag: Primark

My sister
Dress: Zara
Shoes: Zara

My mum is probably the only person who can tell me what to wear. And when she told me I couldn't wear black to my twin sisters graduation, I had to comply.

So instead of going for grey or some other dark hue I went to the other extreme an opted for (nearly) all white.

I already had the dress but I had pretty much no other white accessories or jacket. I had a really specific idea of what I wanted and honestly it took aaaaaages to find a jacket and shoes. I wanted a bomber not a blazer and I ended up using style compare to find it. I never shop in Dorothy Perkins so it definitely would not have been somewhere I would think to look. Turns out they have some other rather nice jackets that I'm now am lusting after! Bonus if you like it, its now in the sale! If you do plan to order go up a size. I opted for a 12 in the end and the 10 was just too tight on the shoulders.

I am not a high heels fan. I hate being uncomfortable, not being able to move around as normal and generally I do not need 4 extra inches of height. I am 5'9 and when you add on some massive heels I become even more clumsy and awkward.
So when I stumbled upon these mid heel beauties from Next I new I had found my pair. They have a good sturdy chunky heel and most importantly there where white. But didn't look cheap.

The bag was a bit of an after thought. I grabbed in in Primark a few days ago as I knew I wouldn't be getting much wear out of it in future. It was big enough to get my camera in and thats all I was really bothered about.
It was in Scotland so of course it chucked it down in with rain. Just what you want for a graduation. So gladly I maged to fit an umbrella in as well.

Photo Diary | Graduation

Last Week I went home Edinburgh to celebrate my twin sisters graduation from university. These are just a few snaps from the day. I ended up with about a zillion photos from the ceremony, most of which are awful and blurred! It poured with rain pretty much the whole day but we manged to get a few pictures together outside before the heavens opened.

For dinner we headed to 'The Ship on the Shore'. Where I ate my own body weight in seafood. I followed it with a pain au choclat pudding. It was utterly delicious but entirely uneceserrry. My eyes were definitely larger than my belly on this occasion. But was a seriously amazing meal.

p.s. a post with the full rundown on our outfits is on its way.
