Outfit | Back in Brighton

Top: American Apparel
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes : Aldo (post)
Bag: Vintage
Sunglasses: Petter Pilotto for Target (post)
Watch: Calvin Klein
Earrings: Vivienne Westwood
Rings: Vintage and Accessorize
Lips: Marc Jacobs 'Seduce Me'

Today the sun came out and left the house without a jacket!
I clearly couldn't be more happy about it. Its still a bit of a shock to the system being back in Brighton after 7 months in New York but glorious days in the sunshine make the transition that little bit easier.

I didn't take these jeans with me to NY so this is their first outing in a while. Black jeans in the sun are not the most comfortable thing int he world, having boiling hot all day legs are not that fun.
I stuck with black everywhere else and even added a little bit of pattern in the form of my Peter Pilotto for Target sungalsses. They are a bit out there for me but I can just about handle it when everything else is kept simple.

Hopefully the warm weather lasts and I can change up what I'm wearing a bit more. I am just so glad to not have to be wearing a massive warm coat and boots anymore!

New Additions | Tarte Be MATTEnificent Palette

Say hello to the Tarte 'Be MATTEnificent' eye and cheek palette, isn't it pretty?!

Not being too familiar with Tarte as a brand or any of its collections I don't really understand why the cardboard packaging has 'CC Matte' on the front. It doesn't say it anywhere on the actual palette so If anyone has a clue what thats about please let me know!

I picked this up during my last visit to Sephora in New York. Unfortunately as far as I can tell its no longer available online anywhere but seemed pretty well stocked in all of the stores I went into.

I felt it was pretty well priced at $36 (roughly £22). Its not what I would consider cheap but much less than some of the other palettes I was looking at from Nars and Smashbox which where both at the $70-80 mark.

I would like to admit that I did attempt some swatch pictures. But it is an area in which I am most definitely not suited. They turned out so badly that I would instead like to direct you to over to the ever wonderful Temptalia should you wish to see how they perform.

I was umming and ahhing about whether to get this or not as it is a real non essential but I am really pleased with my purchase and am looking forward to experimenting with some different looks.

Photo Diary | Sweet Chick

Chicken and waffles! Who knew it was such an amazing combination?!

A lot of people I'm sure. But fore me this is a very new discovery. And oh my it is an incredible one.

I have been to Sweet Chick on two occasions now and both where really good. The first was on a Saturday for brunch was was as you might expect incredibly busy but the service and food was still as wonderful as the visit I made on a much quieter monday lunch time.

If you haven't given it a go I thoroughly recommend you try it!

New Additions | Peter Pilotto for Target (take 2)

Yesterday I found myself in Target. My boyfriend is actually to blame for all this, he spotted the clearance section.
To my surprise it was stocked full of the peter Pilotto for Target collection. I have a post on the pieces I originaly picked up (for full price I might add!!). As you can see I scored these bits at quite a reduction.
My sister also ended up with a few bargains, one of the best being two pairs of the the trainers/shoes for only $9 a each.

These are really things I don't need, my suitcases (plural!) are already bursting at the seams but I seriously couldn't help myself.

WishList | Cheap Monday

Untitled #8
Untitled #7

Find most here or here

Hands up. I'm obsessed with Cheap Monday.
Its one of my all time favourite brands. They create simple yet interesting wearable clothes that are always a little different than whats out there on the high street.
Best of all they are affordable!

Whilst I working at Urban Outfitters I it was even more affordable as I could use my staff discount when making purchases. Even though I don't work there anymore I would still go with Urban or Asos for my cheap monday fix.
Both usually have great sale discounts on Cheap Monday stuff if you keep an eye out and don't just check the women's section. Some of my favourite pieces are from the mens department.

I am not really bothered by branded clothes in general. Whether something is from primark, a charity shop or is by a high end designer if I like it (and can afford it!) I will buy it. But more often than not I want to buy everything Cheap Monday make.

I find myself really drawn to their clothes and when ever I pick something new up it just slots in to my wardrobe like it was always there.
You can't ask for much more than that.

Photo Diary | 9/11 Memorial

I visited the 9/11 memorial a few months ago and was in two minds as where to post these pictures or not. Not wanting to be disrespectful as it is a place of mourning and tragic loss.

I dont have anything deep, poignant or life changing to say. But I remember where I was when I found out about the attacks in 2001. I visited New York City and ground zero for the first time in 2008.

I visited with my family and our hotel was in the financial district and we could see it from our room. At that point it was a flat and empty piece of ground and with visible signs of construction having begun.

Now there is a beautiful memorial and new buildings are being created in its place. The museum was not open at the time of my visit but I do hope to be able to see it in the future.

More information on the memorial and museum can be found here.

New Additions | Lady Like

Lately I have been drawn in a somewhat more sophisticated sartorial direction. Maybe its New York getting to me or perhaps I'm maturing or just growing tired of dressing like a boy most of the time, who knows.

Whichever the reason is I find myself to now in possession of Mac's iconic lipstick 'Russian Red' and some rather sparkly dangly earrings.
I had been considering the lipstick for a while but I picked up the earrings on a whim for the astronomical sum of $6 in a random little shop in china town.

Don't expect any sudden changes in me or my style but its nice to dress up and make an effort once in a while. And I want to try and make that effort a little more than I am at the moment!
