Outfit | New Obsession

Polo neck Body: Urban Outfitters (old)
Velvet Culottes: H&M (sale)
Wide Leg Cropped Trousers: H&M (sale)
Shoes: Vagabond at UO (sale) Post here
Watch: Calvin Klein
Rings: Accessorize, and Vintage
Lips: Sleek Pout Polish in 'Perfect Plum'

I love summer and am very very sad to see it fading away but it does mean I can wear some of the more autumn/winer things I have picked up but not yet worn. I got both of these trouser/culotte type things back in May. Both in the sale in H&M for under £10 each. Quite the bargain if you ask me!

I couldn't decide which I wanted to to post first so I ended up including them of both!
I was toying with the idea of shortening the longer pair as they are quite an awkward length on me. I quite like it but I'm pretty sure thats not the place they were intended to hit me at!

Because they are quite baggy I felt something slim fitting would be he most flattering option to pair with them. This body suit is really quite old now but I like the cutouts being in a more unusual place. And you don't have to deal with it riding up or staying tucked in with a body.
I'm all about keeping things as simple as possible!

Outfit | TRIANGL

Bikini and Beach bag: TRIANGL*
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
Flip Flops: Nike

Can't really believe I'm posting this! I  almost didn't. But hey I have a bit of a tan and why not end my holiday outfits with something a little different.

Triangl were kind enough to send me this bikini last year, it happened to be in the dead of a freezing winter when I was in New York and the furthest thing from my mind was exposing myself to the world in it!

Without thinking I opted for black. Given the option again I would probably choose differently but i think because it was november or so when I chose it I didn't have a light or very summery climate in my mind! For reference I am wearing a size medium bottom and a size small top.

I have been eyeing a few of their newer styles and really am having to restrain myself from placing an order. Maybe I will treat myself for next years summer holiday!

Top: Asos single or twin pack
Shorts: Asos (old)
Shoes: Sam Edelman
Necklace: Argos (similar here)
Watch: Calvin Klein

After a brief departure I reverted back to my staple uniform of black and white. Oh and a little bit of silver with my sandals.

I always feel the most comfortable wearing simple things and you cant really get much more simple than this.

Outfit | Denim Dress

Dress: Asos (now in sale)
Shoes: Sam Edelman
Necklace: Argos (similar here)
Watch: Calvin Klein

I'm going to blame the heat for my somewhat out of control hair. It doesn't tend to behave at the best of times but temperatures over 25 degrees aren't my friend.

Ive worn this dress a few times at home in Brighton and I think its great. It happens to be from the Asos Tall section. I love that they are catering for people who are a bit taller as a lot of the reason I size up in tops and dresses in particular is because I hate tight ill fitting things. This dress is long enough and doesn't cut in under the arms (i hate that!) and is interesting but still very simple.

And by the way its not a colour, its denim, therefore it does not count. Its practically a neutral!

Outfit | Pineapple Print

Playsuit: Asos
Flip Flops: Nike
Necklace: Argos (similar here)
Watch: Calvin Klein

Yes its colour and no I've not had any kind of mental breakdown. I saw this playsuit in the sale and loved it. Its not remotely 'me' or my usual style but i thought why not get it for going on holiday.
I had no idea what shoes to wear with it so I kept it super casual with my Nike flip flops.  They are like walking around on springy sponges they are that comfy. They didn't leave my feet for almost the entire week away.

Now just to clarify I'm not about to launch into wearing colour all the time but for a week in Spain I can just about manage it!

Outfit | Striped Shorts

Top: Topshop
Shorts: Zara (sale)
Shoes: Sam Edelman
Necklace: Argos (similar here)
Watch: Calvin Klein
Rings: Accessorize, and Vintage

I mentioned that I was going to attempt to take some pictures of what I wore on holiday, and you know what I actually managed to capture a few outfits!

Oh and look its not black! Holidays are probably the only time I abandon the darker hues and just embrace lighter colours and fabrics. I don't tend to dress up too much either, comfort is key, I am on holiday for a break after all!

Photo Dairy | The Scotsman Steps, Work No. 1059

I have been on a roll lately finding pictures I had forgotten about. Bit of a lazy way of blogging I know but I take so many pictures I am not surprised more than a few fall through the net.

Now if you aren't familiar with Edinburgh (my home city) which I am sure not all of you are, then this post might seem a little odd. Its just a staircase right?

Well yes it is but it was transformed from a rather ugly, dirty and a dilapidated flight of stairs into a wonderful work of art. All thanks to Martin Creed and the Fruit Market Gallery
Their article will explain it much better and in far greater detail than I can. But basically artist Martin Creed was commissioned to do this work by the Fruit Market Gallery as part of his solo exhibition 'Down Over Up' which was shown at the Gallery in the summer of 2010.

The work wasn't finished and open for the public to view (and walk all over) until 2011 which was after I had moved to Brighton.
So despite reading about it and seeing pictures online I didn't get to see it for myself until quite some time afterwards.

The exhibition was only on for a short time but the transformation of the steps is permanent. It is subtle and is not necessarily something you would take notice of immediately but if you take the time to look and appreciate it is quite beautiful.

Outfit | Abstract Print

Top: Zara (sale)
Jeans: Topshop Joni
Boots: Sam Edelman
Glasses: Ray-Ban
Watch: Calvin Klein
Necklace: Argos
Rings: Accessorize, Vintage and Street Sellers

Well don't I look miserable?! Probably because it is really the end of summer if I'm wearing boots and jeans.
I can't complain too much as I am currently on holiday in Spain, hopefully sunning myself as we speak (look at me getting fancy with scheduled posts! Is this what proper bloggers do?!). Anyway this is what I was wearing the day before I left.

There hasn't been much getting me out of these Joni jeans since I got them. I still love my numerous pairs of Jamie jeans but I might be a bit of a convert to these as well. Topshop in my opinion really do make the best jeans on the high street.

This top was an opportune purchase in the Zara sale a few weeks ago when I was at home in Edinburgh. It was the last one on the rack and it was calling my name. To me it looks a lot like something you would find in Cos but for only £12 it was a bit of a bargain.

Sales are my ultimate weakness. I will consider normal full price purchases for ages but as soon as something is reduced i just 'have' to have it.
I really need to develop some form of self control. Especially with final year fast approaching. I need to be buying yarns and weaving materials, not more clothes!

A Closer Look | The Pokey Hat

1, 2, 3
4, 5, 6
7, 8, 9.

I am always on the lookout for new and affordable places to shop online. So when I cam across The Pokey Hat Arcade I thought it was something I would share.
TPH Arcade is an online marketplace that gives sellers a platform to host their own boutique within the Pokey Hat site. Each boutique is on the site by invite only so they you won't find any dodgy christmas jumpers here being flogged as bespoke vintage!

Each boutique specialises in well selected vintage pieces and they are all presented with a strong focus on modern styling. Seeing vintage clothing worn with modern items you probably already have in your wardrobe makes it so much easier to see how you would wear them. Always great if you are new to vintage or are unsure how to wear a particular piece. And the best part is the prices aren't crazy!

I always find that when shopping for vintage, be it on eBay or other specialist sites that you find something gorgeous that you love but it costs a small fortune. Not the case here! And as always with vintage you aren't going to see three other girls wearing the same thing as you. Also THP Arcade is Uk based so the shipping isn't a killer either.

You can shop by each individual boutique or just by item if there is something in particular you are after. Above are just a few of my picks. Trust me there are a whole lot more but I had to narrow it down somewhat!

Outfit | Silver Skirt

Black Duster Coat: Urban Outfitters (sale)
Black Crop Top: Urban Outfitters
Silver Skirt: Pippa Lynn At UrbanOutfitters
Shoes: Vagabond (sale)
Glasses: Ray-Ban
Watch: Calvin Klein
Necklace: Argos
Rings: Accessorize, Vintage and Street Sellers

This one is a little different to my usual all black/jeans/t-shirt/trainers uniform. I don't usually go out with this much skin on show but I think the skirt looks better without tights. And with the long coat I am not quite as exposed!

I usually feel more comfortable being more low key and obviously more covered up but Its good to try new things! I have to tell myself you are a girl Tania and its only a skirt, its no big deal!

Photo Diary | Riot of Colour

I mean which pictures do you leave out?! There is just so much going on!
This may only be about half of  the original number I took and there are still far too many. But this is my blog so I can make the rules.

I have searched high and low to see if this exhibition/interactive painting experience had a name but I can't seem to locate one. This was at the New Museum (previous post here) in New York when I visited in March. I didn't don overalls and join in but I did spend a long time looking and taking (too many) pictures.

I love that every inch of the room can can be reached is covered with colour and doodled on. There didn't appear to be any rules or restrictions and I love that this took up an entire floor in the museum. Everything is pristine, clean and white in the rest of the building until the elevator doors opened  up to reveal all of this.
